Born in Llanelli in late 1898, Thomas Emlyn Gwynne worked his way east gradually, starting out at Swansea RFC and then playing for Mountain Ash after moving there for work. He turned professional with Hull FC after the Great War and ended up scoring 107 tries whilst at the club. He made appearances for Glamorgan as well as internationally for Wales and Great Britain. Moving back to Wales after his career, he died in 1962, aged 63.
