Anthony Blackwood qualified for Wales via the heritage rule. Cumbrian-born, he went through the Leigh Centurions academy and made his first team debut for them in 2002. After a short spell at Chorley Lynx, he played two seasons at Halifax before joining Celtic Crusaders. There, he became a success, scoring 30 tries in 68 appearances and helping them to two successive promotions to Super League. He made 26 appearances during the first campaign in 2009 but was restricted to just one in 2010. He was loaned to South Wales Scorpions to help them launch in their first ever game in 2010 before transferring to his home town club Barrow Raiders where he spent two seasons. A spell in France at Limoux followed before he moved to Australia, signing for Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the Queensland Cup. He eventually become player/captain/coach of Whitsunday Brahamns in Northen Queensland before retiring from the game and living in Airlie Beach.
