Justin Morgan played for Wales in the 2000 World Cup. He was also assistant coach of Wales for one game in 2008. Australian-born, he started at Parramatta Eels, playing 83 times for them between 1994 and 1999. A year at Canberra Raiders followed, before playing for New Zealand Warriors in the 2001 and 2002 seasons. By then, he was already a regular in the Wales side, so he moved over to Europe to be closer to the land of his heritage and signed for Toulouse Olympique XIII. However a serious injury in the 2004 season forced him to retire from the game aged just 28. Immediately he was given the head coach role at Toulouse and rose to prominence in his first year by leading them to the Challenge Cup semi-finals. Following this, he was appointed head coach at Hull Kingston Rovers and for the second season in a row, led a lower division club to the Challenge Cup semi-finals as well as coaching them to promotion to Super League for 2007. After their first five games, they were top of Super League, but they ended up in 11th place. After six seasons at Rovers, he returned to Australia and was assistant coach at Canberra Raiders for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Melbourne Storm in 2014-2015 and New Zealand Warriors from 2016. Assistant coach of the New Zealand men's national side from 2017, he was appointed head coach of the New Zealand women's national side for the 2021 World Cup.
