The grandson of Wigan and Wales legend Billy Boston, unlike his grandfather was able to do, Wes Davies went onto to play in Wales colours in both league and union, albeit in the WRU's now defunct A side, playing once against England A. Like his grandfather, he played in the Rugby League World Cup, but for Wales, starring in the 2000 event. He also emulated his grandfather by playing for Wigan, but spent just three seasons there, making 44 Super League appearances and scoring 11 tries, before moving across the town to Orrell RU when he was 23. Apart from a brief spell at Salford in 2003, he remained in the 15-man code until retirement.
