Bob Prosser had a long spell in rugby union with Newport, playing 148 times and scoring 19 tries. During that time, he had struck up a winning partnership with Dai Watkins. He'd also had a short spell playing for Coventry and represented Crawshays. He turned professional with St Helens in 1965 and made his club debut against the touring New Zealand team. During his time at Saints, he helped them to a Championship Final win in 1966 as they beat Halifax. After 45 appearances for the club, scoring two tries, he moved to Salford in 1967, where he was reunited with old mate Dai. There he made 138 appearances, scoring 21 tries. He trained as a teacher at Padgate College of Education, Warrington and enjoyed a long career in that profession.
