A player for Blaenavon, Tredegar, Newport and Pontypool, it was when playing with the latter that he turned out for Wales against England in 1960. Two weeks after that game, he turned professional with Leeds, making 140 appearances for the club, one of them being a try-scorer in their 25-10 win over Warrington in the 1961 Championship Final. From there he went to Keighley where he made 165 appearances and was eventually elected into their Hall of Fame. He worked at Kirstall Forge, Leeds, and he died on November 23rd 1992 aged just 56 in Leeds.
