Son of Welsh international Clive Sullivan, Anthony played for Wales in every game of both the 1995 and 2000 Rugby League World Cups, scoring a hat-trick of tries against France in the first game of the 1995 tournament. He also starred in both games of Wales' European Championship trophy win earlier that year. He also won seven Great Britain caps. Born in Hull, he began his career at Hull Kingston Rovers, debuting in 1988 aged 19, playing four seasons on Humberside before moving to St Helens in 1991 aged 22. There he spent ten years, winning a Lancashire Cup medal in 1992, then the Super League and Challenge Cup double in 1996, ending that year with an inclusion in the first Super League Dream Team. In 1997, he was the club's joint top try scorer as Saints retained the Challenge Cup before spending a brief spell in rugby union with Cardiff RFC in the 1998-99 season where he won two Wales A caps, scoring one try. He rejoined Saints for the start of the 1999 Super League season, helping them to a Super League Grand Final win, which they retained in 2000, before winning the World Club Challenge and Challenge Cup in 2001.  In total, he played 305 times for St Helens, scoring 213 tries and kicking five goals to equal 862 points. Included in those stats were 105 tries in 139 Super League appearances. In the summer of 2001, he rejoined Cardiff RFC, spending a more successful period than his initial eight games in the code, becoming a full dual code international, playing against Argentina and Tonga that autumn. In total, he played 52 first class games of rugby union, 48 of them for Cardiff, scoring 20 club tries. He retired from all rugby in February 2003 aged 33. Since retiring, Anthony has worked at the Rugby Football League in a number of coaching roles before going into fitness training.
