Thomas Patrick David was a legend in the rugby union game and didn't fare too badly in rugby league either, scoring 55 tries in 85 appearances for Cardiff Blue Dragons from 1981-84. He won four Wales RU caps and was a British Lions tourist. His two rugby league caps meant he became a dual code international. Pontypridd born and bred, Tommy played for the town’s Schools and Youth teams before progressing to the seniors. He helped the club to three league championship crowns, before moving to Llanelli. Tommy returned to Pontypridd in 1975, captaining the team to another two league championships, and amassing a total of 404 appearances for the club. Following his spell as a professional with Cardiff Blue Dragons, he retired and became a director with Pontypridd’s long standing sponsors, Buy as you View.
