Lewis Taylor played for Wales via the heritage rule. He initially joined Leeds Rhinos in 2001, along with his brother Ryan, progressed through the academy teams and played in the Senior Academy Grand Final loss to Bradford Bulls in 2004. He didn't make a first team appearance at the Rhinos, instead joining Keighley Cougars and played 14 times for them in 2005. The following year, he joined the Royal Navy and became a leading Aircraft Technician but his rugby league career wasn't over. He represented Great Britain in the 2008 Defence Forces World Cup, beating Australia 26–16 at the Sydney Football Stadium, then alongside his brother, who had joined the Army, they played in the 2013 Armed Forces World Cup. He left the Navy in 2017 to work for Northern Rail. By 2024, he was playing Master Rugby League for Wales Exiles.
