Brynmor Williams won one cap for Wales when playing for Cardiff Blue Dragons, turning out against Australia and scoring a try. For Cardiff, he turned out 26 times, scoring six tries. Although from West Wales, he made a name for himself in the East, playing for Cardiff and Newport, and representing Monmouthshire. He became one of the rare rugby union players to represent the British and Irish Lions when uncapped by his country, playing in all three tests on the 1977 New Zealand tour, along with nine other tour matches. He joined Newport from Cardiff after that tour, where he understudied Gareth Edwards. He was selected for Wales B in December of that year before winning his first Wales RU cap against Australia in 1978, also playing for Barbarians later that year. He eventually re-joined Cardiff as understudy to Terry Holmes. He won just three caps for Wales in rugby union before turning professional in 1982. After retiring, he took to punditry and was a commentator for S4C in rugby league in 2007-08, regularly commentating on Celtic Crusaders. He also worked in the insurance sector. In 2016, he took up the voluntary role as Chair of Fields in Trust Cymru, a charity dedicated to protecting outdoor space for play, sport and recreation. He has been involved in a number of other charities, and it is for that work that he was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Honours in June 2022.
