Terence Cook won two caps for Wales in rugby union, then a further four in rugby league, making him a dual code international. Starting his rugby union at Bedwas RFC, whilst attending New Tredegar Technical College he played for Pontypool and also turned out for the combined Pontypool, Taylwain and Blaenavon XV against the touring Australians at Abertillery Park in December 1947. He joined Cardiff from Pontypool at the start of the 1948-49 season, spending two years there and scoring 44 tries in 71 matches over two seasons, before turning professional with Halifax. There he won two Yorkshire Cup medals, beating Hull in two successive finals in 1954 and 1955, and Yorkshire League winners medals in 1950, 1953, 1954 and 1956. In total, he made 102 appearances, scoring 49 tries for Halifax, which included an appearance in the Championship Final (the equivalent of today's Super League Grand Final) in 1953. Sadly he was forced to retire due to injury later that year, aged just 26. Originally an engineering draughtsman by trade, he moved back to Wales and eventually opened a shop on City Road in Cardiff called "Terry's" that sold fabric, fancy dress and theatrical items. By the time he celebrated his 83rd birthday in 2010, he had owned, and was still working at, the store for just over 50 years. He died on 18 January 2016, aged 88.
