Ian Lovell
Ian Lovell has photographed rugby league in Wales, primarily as a volunteer for nearly 20 years. See his records at http://ianlovell.com/3.html
Starting off by photographing the local game in South Wales, primarily for Cardiff Demons, Ian first took charge of the men's national side's photography in 2004.
Since then, he has photographed Wales all round Europe and the World, travelling to places like Serbia in 2009, France many times, Ireland, Scotland, England, the World Cup in Australia in 2017, before covering every game in the RLWC2021 qualifiers. He continues in the club and community game, having been Celtic Crusaders' official photographer for four years and South Wales Scorpions' for seven. He has photographed the Welsh national side at every level and every Welsh Grand Final between 2004 and 2019.
Having had photographs published in all of rugby league's publications all round the world, as well as many national and international newspapers and magazines, Ian is the most prolific photographer that Wales Rugby League have ever had. In addition, outside of photography, he has always been of great assistance to the running of the Wales Rugby League domestic game, writing match reports and processing player registrations being just two things he has done over the years.
Also involved in the rugby union code, Ian manages the website for Bedwas RFC in addition to of course being their club photographer. He has also snapped many local, national and international bands due to his love of rock music.
